Filer vs non-filer — why filing pays for itself

Filing is also often required for bank loans, visa applications and property transactions. Learn more in our filer vs non-filer guide.

Who we help

Why ADL Law Associates

Established in 2008, ADL Law Associates is a Lahore-based tax and corporate law firm with offices in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Parachinar. Our returns are prepared by a team that also represents clients before the FBR — so your filing is audit-aware from day one. If a notice ever arrives, the same people who filed your return can defend it.

Frequently asked questions

Who must file an income tax return in Pakistan?

Salaried individuals earning above the taxable threshold, business owners and AOPs, company directors, and most people who own property or a vehicle, hold an NTN, or want to appear on the Active Taxpayer List must file. Thresholds are set by the annual Finance Act, so it is best to confirm your position for the current tax year.

What is the last date for filing an income tax return?

For most individuals, salaried persons and AOPs the due date is usually 30 September, and companies file by 31 December. The FBR can extend these dates. Late returns can still be filed, generally until 31 December, but a surcharge applies and you may lose Active Taxpayer List benefits.

Do I need an NTN before filing?

Yes. An NTN (National Tax Number) is required to file. If you do not have one, we complete your NTN registration on the FBR IRIS portal as part of the filing service.

What documents do I need to file my return?

Typically your CNIC, salary certificate or business accounts, bank statements, withholding tax certificates, and details of your assets for the wealth statement. We share a simple checklist after your consultation.

Can freelancers and overseas Pakistanis file through you?

Yes. We file returns entirely online for freelancers and IT exporters managing foreign remittances, and for overseas and non-resident Pakistanis, without any office visit.

How much does income tax filing cost?

The fee depends on the complexity of your return, for example a straightforward salaried return versus a business with multiple income sources. Book a free consultation and we will give you a clear quote before you commit.

What if I receive an FBR notice after filing?

We handle FBR notices and audits and represent you in proceedings, so your return is prepared with compliance and any later scrutiny in mind.
